Welcome to Portfolio, an online exhibition of my favorite images. Please take a few minutes to browse the galleries.
A tiny bit about me: I am originally from Rhode Island and Connecticut, but have lived in Northern California for the last 23 years. I started with a semi-pro film camera at age 19 and won my first competition almost immediately. In 1999, I finally went professional and fine-tuned a love I have for capturing what I see as the "romance" or “mystery” hidden in everything I turn the lens to.
I concentrate on fine art imagery using high-end cameras modified to change the light the camera sees, in order to include infrared. There is a small amount of color in the spectrum, called “false color,” but it takes some processing to coax it out. The result is the unique effect you'll see here. Each image is different in the degree and depth of color available, based largely on the quality of light in the sky at the moment it's captured, among other factors.
There is a magic beyond what the human eye can see. My aim is to capture that alternate reality; a type of dreamscape that is all around us.
There is no computer-generated trickery here. The customized camera merely filters what you are able to see – and lets you see more, while at the same time, seeing less. Each image can take many hours to reach fruition. I process the scene like an Archeologist, carefully sifting through the dirt with a toothbrush, trying to uncover buried treasures without damaging what nature has preserved.
The Blue Heron Gallery, at the Vintage 1870 Marketplace in Yountville, CA, (halfway between Napa and St. Helena, for those not familiar with the area), are now exhibiting about 15 of my pieces. Please stop by and peruse the gallery!! Peju Province Winery, in Napa Valley, also carries a few smaller, (16" x 20"), prints of their winery, and will be hosting an exhibit of select pieces of my work from late January through April.
The images are printed on archival-quality paper. I've created a few framed and matted, Limited Edition, versions of select images that you can order, ready to hang on your wall. These are limited to 50, (or 250, depending), Giclee prints, signed and numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity.
I respond quickly to all questions sent by email, so don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks for stopping by, and please leave a comment below!!
